Dr. Schwanitz is a Colorado native and worked for many years as a journalist before deciding to change career paths to become a pediatrician. She attended medical school at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland and remained there for her pediatric residency. She and her family returned to Colorado in 2004, and are well-established in Summit County. Dr. Schwanitz and her husband have two children and enjoy all that Summit County has to offer a young family. She is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
