Life in the High Country
High Country Health Care's clinics are located in Summit
County, Colorado. This is beautiful country situated in the heart of
the Rocky Mountains. Blue skies and sunshine along with world-class snow
draw many of the individuals that now call 'Colorado's Playground' home.
The primary industry in the high country is tourism. There
are seven world-class ski resorts, including Breckenridge and Vail, all within
a short distance of each other. Yes, this is ski country. Snow can fall
nine months out of the year; however, Denver is only an
hour away, allowing for great escapes from wintry weather.
For outdoor enthusiasts, this high country is heaven. Recreational
opportunities abound year round from snowshoeing and sleigh rides to
mountain biking and fly-fishing. Thousands of acres of public land, and
miles of hiking trails and paved bike paths surround our towns. It's not far
before you're out enjoying the incredible beauty of this land.
For those who prefer to spend time enjoying more than the outdoors,
there is always something exciting happening in town - from Genuine Jazz
in July at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center to the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater in Vail. Our small resort towns
are home to art galleries, theaters, concert halls, gourmet restaurants
featuring fine wine and dining, brew pubs, down-home cafes, and even
sushi bars.
With so
many wonderful diversions, it's no wonder people come from all over the
world to live in the high country.
